Skrillex released SOMA on June 5 with no rollout or warning, catching fans off guard. The producer teased the album with early singles including 'Duro' with Young Miko, 'Smoke' with ISOxo, and 'Thistle' with Blawan, Randomer, and MC Dricka. Days after hinting at a tracklist on Instagram Stories, he delivered the full project.
Global Collaborators and Creative Partnerships
The 13-track album brings together collaborators including Anita B Queen, BEAM, Chris Lake, Feid, Naisha, Nitepunk, and RHR. The project builds on creative partnerships from Skrillex's recent releases, live shows, and DJ sets. Highlights include 'Smoke' with ISOxo, 'Noche Without You' with Feid featuring the trance classic Children as the instrumental, and 'Anybody', the second collaboration with ISOxo on the album.
Post-Atlantic Independence
The album arrives as Skrillex fully controls his creative direction after parting ways with Atlantic Records. SOMA becomes his second studio album since the split, following his 2025 release F*CK U SKRILLEX YOU THINK UR ANDY WARHOL BUT UR NOT!! <3. The producer had hundreds of finished tracks and collaborations sitting in the vault, held back by Atlantic's commercial strategy.
The release lines up with Skrillex's return to Primavera Sound Barcelona, where he performed on the Revolut stage on Friday, June 5, and curated the CUPRA Pulse stage on Saturday. SOMA follows the debut of CONTRA, his new event platform with Berlin Atonal, which took place May 30–31 at Kraftwerk Berlin.
