A Decade-Long Tradition Returns
Solomun kicked off his Solomun+1 residency at Pacha Ibiza on Sunday, reviving the handout flyer his team has quietly distributed at the door every season since 2017. The written appeal urges attendees to minimize filming and stay present on the dancefloor. In an Instagram post marking this year's opener, Solomun framed the practice in his own words.
"Not a rule. Not a ban. Just a gentle reminder of what this night is really about," he wrote. "The music sounds different when you're fully inside it. The room feels different when the phones are away. The night stays with you longer when you actually lived it."
Phone-Free Movement Gains Momentum
According to data from Eventbrite, phone-free events grew 567% globally between 2024 and 2025, with U.S. attendance climbing 913%. The cultural shift has steadily moved from underground institutions like Berlin's Berghain and London's fabric to mainstream consciousness. Michael Bibi's Solid Grooves recently announced a ban on phones for its 2026 residency at DC-10.
Twelve Years at Pacha
Now in its 12th year at Pacha, Solomun+1 is well ahead of the curve. The residency's 2026 season is slated to run every Sunday from May 31st through October 4th.
