A Hybrid Brostep and Trap Single
The track opens with a rapid-fire intro that leads into a brostep drop within the first thirty seconds, built on grimy basses and playful rhythms. It's heavier and more aggressive than much of his earlier catalog under the Spag Heddy name, but there's a new sense of bounce and movement that separates "Show Me Something" from what came before.
A vocal sample midway through declares, "Sacrifice what you are, for what you will become," a line that doubles as commentary on the artistic shift SPAG has been working through since THIS IS: SPAG dropped. The back half of the track shifts into trap territory, leaning into choppier rhythms and dirtier wubs before circling back to the opening drop's motif for a final payoff.
Fifteen Years of Bass Music
Mischa Reining has been producing as Spag Heddy since 2011, building a reputation in the bass scene through relentless touring and a catalog that picked up support from acts like Skrillex, Excision, Subtronics, and NGHTMRE. He's also handled official remixes for The Chainsmokers, Krewella, and SLANDER, and logged support runs alongside Zomboy, Flux Pavilion, and Zeds Dead over the years.
The shift to SPAG strips away the cartoonish branding that came with the Spag Heddy project in favor of something darker and more stripped down—black, white, and red visuals built around cutout collage and mixed media, with a tone that leans more punk and skate culture than festival mascot. Reining has framed the change not as a departure, but as a sharpening of what was already there after fifteen years of making bass music.
"Show Me Something" is out now, and with chapter two of the SPAG project officially underway, more music is expected to follow.
