New album arrives via This Never Happened in February
The Canadian electronic music duo Sultan + Shepard announced Life Will Break Your Heart on Instagram, sharing an extended reflection on heartbreak, resilience, and the ways difficult experiences reshape perspective. The album will arrive on February 18, 2027 via Lane 8's This Never Happened imprint.
"Life will break you open, shattering into a million pieces, fitting them back together in new ways, ways you never knew could fit before," the duo wrote in the announcement post.
Context of personal health challenges
The announcement carries added weight following a personal health revelation from June, when Sultan + Shepard's Ossama Al Sarraf disclosed that he had been diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis several years earlier. The condition causes scarring in the lungs and can make breathing difficult.
Al Sarraf explained that he now requires supplemental oxygen during physically demanding activities, including live performances. He described spending years in denial about his diagnosis before deciding to speak publicly, hoping his experience would encourage others facing health challenges.
Album themes echo resilience and transformation
While the duo have not explicitly connected the forthcoming album to Al Sarraf's diagnosis, its central message of perseverance mirrors the perspective he shared over the summer.
A tracklist and further details surrounding Life Will Break Your Heart have yet to be revealed. The album is available for pre-save now.
