The Chainsmokers have ended their partnership with Columbia Records and Disruptor Records after 11 years, the duo confirmed recently. Alex Pall and Drew Taggart began working with the labels in 2015, a period that delivered their biggest commercial hits and five studio albums. Their final project under the partnership was the Love Is Kind EP with Oaks, released in May 2026.
A Decade of Chart Success
The relationship with Columbia and Disruptor began shortly before The Chainsmokers' commercial breakthrough. "Roses" became their first Top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, followed by "Don't Let Me Down," "Closer," "Paris," and "Something Just Like This" over the next two years. Their debut album, Memories…Do Not Open, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in 2017. Four more studio albums followed before the partnership concluded.
Team Changes and a New Direction
The label departure follows other personnel shifts. In 2025, Pall and Taggart parted ways with longtime manager Adam Alpert, who founded Disruptor Records. Pall addressed the broader changes in a LinkedIn post, explaining that bringing in new team members without years of history around the duo allowed for fresh perspectives on decisions and gave the pair a chance to reconsider their creative direction.
What's Next
In announcing their departure, The Chainsmokers thanked both labels and said they are excited to experiment with future releases. Pall and Taggart told fans they "owe you some records," though no new single or album has been announced. Whatever they release next will be their first independent music since 2015.
