Exit from Disruptor Records
After 11 years with Disruptor Records, a Sony subsidiary, The Chainsmokers have announced their departure to launch their own independent label, Secondhand Happiness. The duo's final release under the Disruptor/Columbia deal was the Love Is Kind EP in May 2026. In 2025, Alex Pall and Drew Taggart quietly ended their long-standing management relationship with Adam Alpert, who had worked with them since their 2015 signing.
Fresh Perspective and Team Changes
In a LinkedIn post, Pall explained the philosophy behind the shift. He described bringing in new team members without preconceptions about how things should operate. Pall emphasized that the move was not driven by dissatisfaction with their previous team but rather by a desire to shake things up and gain fresh perspectives, even when everything is working fine.
New Single with Ilsey Juber
Ilsey Juber, who co-wrote previous Chainsmokers hits including "Roses" and "All The Time," provides vocals on the new single. The track is described as an upbeat breakup song with nostalgic elements recalling the duo's earlier work.
Going independent gives the duo full ownership of their music and greater flexibility in release schedules. The single 'Baby' arrived Friday on the new label.
