A new track featuring Thomas Bangalter, Fred again.. and Joy Anonymous has surfaced in Joy Anonymous' BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix, according to a post circulating in the r/DaftPunk subreddit.
The Essential Mix Evidence
The claim traces back to Joy Anonymous' Essential Mix, which aired last week. One listener pinpointed the unreleased track to the 1:28:00 mark, noting it plays directly before "Glow," the 2022 collaboration from Fred again.., Skrillex, Four Tet, Duskus and Joy Anonymous. The post additionally cites as evidence an Instagram Story shared by Joy Anonymous, in which the track was tagged using its title and producers.
Bangalter's Rare Studio Return
None of the three parties has publicly confirmed the collaboration at the time of this writing. The track would mark a rare new production credit for Bangalter, whose live and studio appearances have remained sparse since Daft Punk's 2021 split. His connection to Fred again.. has deepened over the past year, most notably during a b2b set at London's Alexandra Palace, the finale of a four-date series that closed out Fred's USB002 tour.
Joy Anonymous' Collaborative History
Joy Anonymous have their own history with both artists. The duo appears on Fred's "Peace U Need" from his 2024 album Ten Days, and they joined him onstage during the same Alexandra Palace run.
Their Essential Mix tracklist lends some corroboration to the Reddit report even though the ID itself remains unverified.
