The Tim Bergling Foundation has opened its seventh free music studio, this time in the Navestad district of Norrköping, Sweden. The facility, which launched this month, offers teens and young adults aged 13 to 25 a no-cost space to write, produce, and record music.
Partnership brings studio to Navestad community
The foundation worked with Hyresbostäder i Norrköping, a local housing company, along with several other area organizations to establish the studio. It's located at Navet Community Corner and is open to anyone in the age range regardless of prior musical experience, according to Martina Larsson, Head of Communications at the Tim Bergling Foundation.
The studio is the latest addition to the foundation's Studios For A Better Day program, an initiative that provides young people with access to music production facilities and creative activities designed to support mental well-being.
Expanding a legacy of mental health advocacy
The nonprofit launched the Studios For A Better Day program in 2022 with its first location at House of Tensta, a youth center in Stockholm. The initiative was established four years after Avicii died by suicide in 2018 at age 28 following years of mental health struggles.
The foundation now operates six other studios across Sweden. Larsson said the goal is to "establish at least ten to give even more young people the opportunity to create music." The organization has not announced locations or timelines for its next openings.
