Timmy Trumpet has released REVELATIONS, a 15-track album out now on Spinnin' Records. The sophomore LP follows his debut Mad World and was written after his separation from a partner of more than a decade.
Co-production with Mike Hawkins and a pivotal studio session
The album was co-produced by Mike Hawkins, who has worked on some of David Guetta's biggest global hits. Early one morning in the studio, Trumpet opened up about the weight he had been carrying and asked Hawkins whether he would get past the pain. The pair threw out around 30 tracks, and the following day they wrote 'Will I Be Alright?' within hours. Featuring Martin Jasper, the song took its title from the question he had put to Hawkins.
The album opens with 'Not A Place,' featuring Oaks, which first arrived in March. 'Dance Till I Die' follows as his personal favorite on the record, an emotionally propulsive collaboration with Olivia Sebastianelli that stands as a pledge to keep making music no matter what life brings.
Guest vocalists and live instrumentation
'Chase The Feeling,' made with Alle Farben and ALEXX, brings his live trumpet into a bright house track built around a big melodic chorus. 'All My Life,' made with Frank Walker and featuring John Martin, the vocalist behind Swedish House Mafia's 'Don't You Worry Child,' was part of Trumpet's closing set on the Freedom stage at Tomorrowland in July. Martin joined him on stage to perform it. That same weekend, he revealed the album almost by accident during an interview on One World Radio, hinting at new music with the Swedish singer.
Zedd's live drums land on 'Dancing On The Edge,' a melodic trap cut with a gentler touch than the genre usually brings. 'In My Head,' made with Jethro, borrows from drum & bass at a slower pace, with piano melodies leading the way.
Closing track and moving forward
The album closes with 'One Broken Heart,' which answers the question Trumpet asked in the studio with a decision to move forward. Credited to him alone, the track carries vocals from Nathan Nicholson, and the chorus puts it plainly: "I'm going to pick the pieces up and find my way out of the dark."
REVELATIONS is available now on Spinnin' Records and streaming platforms.
