Tomorrowland Launches ZONE 5 Run-and-Rave Series in Antwerp

The Format

Tomorrowland is partnering with Lucky Stride Running Club to launch ZONE 5, a new concept that pairs a social 5K run with a daytime rave. The inaugural edition takes place in Antwerp on Saturday, August 29, with around 3,000 participants expected.

The structure is simple: runners follow a curated route through the city, cross the finish line, and move directly into a purpose-built arena designed by Tomorrowland. From there, a two-hour alcohol-free rave takes over, with Emilija b2b Alycia Bezgo and Dimitri Vegas on the lineup. Doors open at 9:00am, the run kicks off at 10:00, and the event wraps by 13:00.

Expanding a Festival Tradition

Tomorrowland has run similar experiences around its flagship festival previously, with past editions featuring runs alongside John Summit, Steve Aoki, and Armin van Buuren. ZONE 5 brings the concept to Belgium for the first time, with Lucky Stride Running Club—one of Europe's faster-growing running communities—handling the course curation.

The 5K isn't a race in the traditional sense. Participants are encouraged to move at their own pace, with the emphasis on collective experience over competition. The finish area feeds straight into the rave arena, where the event shifts into its second phase.

The Name and the Vision

The name comes from endurance training—Zone 5 is the highest heart rate zone, the point where intensity and adrenaline peak. That threshold is the through-line for the whole experience, from the opening kilometre to the closing set.

Stijn De Rooster, Alderman for Sports for the City of Antwerp, said, "Sport is constantly evolving and reaching people in new ways. ZONE 5 shows that movement can be about much more than competition. It brings people together, promotes an active lifestyle and creates a unique atmosphere where sport, music and community reinforce one another."
