TL;DR

Traxsource will begin classifying music releases as Human-Made or AI-Assisted starting July 1, 2026, while removing fully AI-generated tracks from the platform. The house music download store has partnered with AI detection companies SH Labs and SoundPatrol to identify and classify submissions. The new labels aim to give DJs and listeners clearer information about how music has been created.

Traxsource has announced new AI transparency labels for music on its platform, with releases set to be classified as either Human-Made or AI-Assisted from July 1, 2026. The update follows the house music download store's earlier statement, Our Position on AI Music, where it outlined how it plans to address AI-generated music, AI-assisted music, transparency, and content classification across its catalog.

Detection partnerships and classification system

Traxsource has partnered with AI detection companies SH Labs and SoundPatrol to support the identification and classification of music submitted to the platform. The system will flag fully AI-generated music for removal, while remaining releases will be classified as either AI-Assisted or Human-Made within the Traxsource classification system.

Brian Tappert, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Traxsource, said: "We realize that everything that got us here came from strong convictions and the guts to act on them. Our musical direction, starting Soulfuric, the crazy notion of launching a website selling digital files while the vinyl market was collapsing from online piracy. This AI moment feels like one of those all over again. We do not believe AI is going away. Everything we're doing is about finding a way to live with it, and making sure the value stays where it belongs, with human-created works."

What the labels mean for users

The new Human-Made and AI-Assisted labels are intended to give DJs, listeners, labels, and the wider music industry clearer information about how music has been created. With the update, Traxsource is aiming to keep new technology visible while giving users more control over how they browse and buy music.

Marc Pomeroy, Co-Founder and CTO of Traxsource, shared: "We envision a future where shopping for music is like shopping for food today, conventional products right next to certified organic, with the choice left to the consumer. We're simply using technical means to preserve and uphold organic, human artistry, while keeping the option open for those artists who are pushing the envelope of technology, not wishing to stifle the creative process."

Policy on fully AI-generated music

The updated AI policy reinforces Traxsource's distinction between AI-Assisted music, which is created as part of a human-led creative process, and fully AI-generated music, which is created entirely using generative AI. Traxsource does not support the distribution of fully AI-generated music on the platform and says it is actively removing this content daily. The company has also introduced a rebuttal process for content providers who believe their music has been mislabeled.

The Human-Made and AI-Assisted labels, along with the updated AI policy and Terms of Service, will take effect on July 1, 2026.
