NYC Playoff Energy Fuels New Track
Westend has released a new single, Feels Better, via his imprint Trace Amounts. The track follows his Experts Only cut 'The Ceiling' and channels the collective energy of New York City during the Knicks' playoff run into a peak-hour festival record built around electrifying synth work and a hooky vocal.
Daft Punk-Inspired Filter House
The Brooklyn producer leaned into classic chopped sample techniques and filter house aesthetics for the production. "I made 'Feels Better' in the middle of the Knicks championship run, when you could feel the whole city floating. That joy was everywhere, on the trains, in the bodegas, on the courts, and I wanted a record that carried it," Westend said. "I leaned into that classic chopped sample sound I grew up on, the Daft Punk filter house stuff, and chased the most feel good version of it I could. It's built to hit at shows and feel like summer in New York."
Trace Amounts and Touring Through October
The release marks another chapter for Trace Amounts, the label Westend launched in 2023 as a home for his own releases and curatorial work. Since 2016, the native New Yorker has built a catalog that includes collaborations with John Summit, HUGEL, ACRAZE, and SIDEPIECE, with releases on Toolroom, Catch & Release, Solotoko, and Dirtybird.
Westend has already played Day Trip and Electric Forest this year, with his Lollapalooza debut scheduled for August 2. His tour schedule runs through October with stops at Shambhala, Das Energi, Elements Festival, and LIV Beach.
