What So Not has launched a new creative chapter with 'I SAW A TRAP DJ AND IT CHANGED MY BIO CHEMISTRY', a project that revisits the trap and bass music era that reshaped global dance culture throughout the 2010s. The Australian producer, who helped define the cinematic trap sound that transformed festival stages and electronic music's mainstream crossover, describes the work as both a personal reflection and a broader reexamination of the genre's impact.

"For a long time I found myself running away from a sound I helped create. In my journey to always do the 'next' thing, I think I neglected my thing. This project comes from finally reconnecting with that energy – not to recreate the past, but to understand why it resonated so deeply in the first place," What So Not said.

Intimate Club Tour Across the U.S.

The project arrives alongside a U.S. tour designed to recapture the raw energy of the early trap and bass era. The limited run includes intimate club shows at Denver's Club Vinyl, Portland's 45 East, Las Vegas' Substance, and Marquee NY, with festival appearances at Das Energi and Lost In Dreams. The tour emphasizes closeness and connection, a deliberate contrast to the massive festival stages that have defined much of the producer's recent career.

"I feel like I'm finally writing the music everybody wants from me – but on my own terms, on my own time, with the tools of a lifetime chasing 'what's next'," he added.

From SoundCloud Pioneer to Modern Reinvention

What So Not broke through in 2013 with tracks like 'High You Are' (Branchez Remix) and has since built a legacy around emotionally charged production and cinematic sound design. His work spans from 'Gemini' to his reimagining of RÜFÜS DU SOL's 'Innerbloom,' bridging the nostalgia of trap's golden era with years of experimentation across drum & bass, analog production, and global rhythmic influences. The new project draws inspiration from early SoundCloud culture and formative collaborations, filtering that emotional DNA through a modern lens.
