Win Butler to DJ The Maze Halloween Event in Downtown LA

Butler Brings DJ Windows 98 to Downtown LA

Win Butler, the frontman and primary songwriter of Arcade Fire, will step behind the decks for a rare DJ set at The Maze, a Halloween block party taking place in the Arts District of downtown Los Angeles. He'll be joined by Paul Beaubrun, a multi-instrumentalist who tours with the band. The duo plans to blend traditional DJing with live instrumentation, according to a press release shared with EDM.com.

Butler has maintained a parallel DJing career for over a decade under the moniker DJ Windows 98. Playing club nights and festival after-hours gigs around the world, his DJ sets typically blend disco, funk, hip-hop and early electronic music.

Event Honors Late French Producer

The booking follows the death of French electronic music pioneer Kavinsky, who was originally slated to perform. Event producer Cyril Bitar said organizers will honor him through a special installation, themed areas throughout The Maze, and content celebrating his music and influence on electronic music and culture.

"Kavinsky was an artist we deeply admired, and having him be part of this year's Maze meant a great deal to all of us," Bitar said. "His passing was an enormous loss, and we never wanted to simply move forward without recognizing the place he held in this event."

Expanded Edition Features Claude VonStroke, The Blaze

Produced jointly by LA nightlife promoters SBCLTR and Minimal Effort, this year's edition of The Maze marks an expansion for the annual Halloween event. After holding previous iterations at Union Station, organizers are relocating the gathering to an expanded indoor-outdoor footprint for what they called "the most ambitious edition of The Maze we've ever created."

The event will also feature DJ sets from Claude VonStroke and The Blaze. Tickets are available now.
